Public Protection Advisor (PPA)

Red Snapper Group (RSG) have been commissioned to support a safeguarding improvement project in London for 24 months, commencing in April 2021. We require a number of safeguarding advisors (subject matter experts) to support the improvement strategy by supporting the workforce with providing one to one advisory support in addition to advice and guidance to ensure safeguarding investigations are completed to the highest levels and children safeguarded.

Safeguarding Advisor Profile

We are looking for experienced safeguarding advisors with a strong detective background in policing with 1-2 years’ experience of safeguarding investigations at PIP level 2. Our advisors will be competent in safeguarding investigations who have experience in achieving the highest quality outcomes to safeguard children and remove them from the threat and risk of harm. In addition, have success in identifying perpetrators who pose a threat to children.

Advisors must have experience in managing complex investigations under the six strands we are focussing on, and must be capable of receiving NPPV2 vetted status.

  • We are looking for advisors with current knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, in particular areas of trauma informed experiences or Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE).
  • Advisors will have experience of working with senior leadership in the past to achieve common goals and contributed to recommendations and suggestions at DC, DS and DI level for best practice to achieve the best possible outcome for the investigations.
  • Advisors will be expected to travel across London, conducting site visits to provide face-to-face mentoring and daily briefings for late turn parades.

Ideally, candidates will demonstrate experience managing staff within child safeguarding and evidence their understanding of one of more of the following strands of:

  • Missing children
  • Child sexual and criminal exploitation
  • Child Abuse (s.47)
  • Indecent images of children as well as
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Rape

RSMS are committed to providing all our Advisors with the necessary tools to perform their roles effectively. We will provide continuous professional development (CPD) whilst deployed on the project to ensure strong safeguarding knowledge, understanding and best practice is achieved.

We will provide all our Advisors with laptops and email access in addition to full access to appropriate IT systems for the project.

On boarding/induction will be provided by the RSMS at the start of the project and to complete any training on IT systems.

All Advisors will receive Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) level 2, RSMS will provide all Advisors with ID passes for use on site visits throughout the project term.

We will chair frequent project meetings to share successes and ideas to continue with positive improvement and exchange thoughts to implement healthy amendments to the project.

We will process payment on a weekly or monthly basis and frequently meet as a team, face to face when COVID restrictions permit.
